About Us
E. L. Schofield & Son was established in Pudsey in 1920 by
the late Edward Lance Schofield.
Steve Riley joined the company in 1976; whilst training in
the workshop alongside Mr. Lance Schofield he studied for
three years at Jacob Kramer College and attained a City &
Guilds Advanced Craft Qualification.
Many years later he returned to the college as a part time
lecturer in Traditional Furniture Making. Steve is now
running the business and deals directly with initial
customer enquiries through to completion of the work. He
also oversees the highly skilled workforce.
E. L. Schofield pride themselves on offering a professional
service to all customers.
Cabinet Making
In our cabinet making workshop we hand craft individual
items of furniture to customers' requirements. Examples of
free standing items are television and video cabinets,
drinks cabinets, wall units, occasional tables, book cases
and dining suites. We are specialists in bespoke lounge,
dining room and study fitted furniture. We are happy to take
on commissions for fitted bedroom and kitchen furniture.
Repair and Restoration
We are experts in the repair and restoration of all types of
furniture, from your most cherished antiques to the routine
repairs of everyday furniture.
We are able to restore inherited pieces of furniture to
their original condition and gladly undertake repair work to
fire and flood damaged furniture, working alongside
insurance companies.

French Polishing and Upholstery
Our French Polishing service produces expert finishes to all types
of furniture using traditional hand polishing and also modern spray
finishing techniques.
We offer an excellent service in the re-polishing and re-upholstery
of dining suites, which is often far more cost effective then
replacement. Furniture can also be colour changed or colour matched
to blend in with existing furniture. Our upholstery service offers a
wide choice of fabrics - we will also use customer's own fabrics if
required.
